Election for Captiva fire district set for next week
A bond referendum Special Election will be held on Feb. 10 for registered voters on Captiva.
The Captiva Island Fire Control District is holding it regarding public safety projects.
The bond referendum will read as:
“To better protect the residents and visitors of Captiva Island, shall the Captiva Island Fire Control District issue not exceeding $24,000,000 general obligation bonds, in one or more series, maturing in thirty years or less, bearing interest not exceeding the maximum legal rate, secured by and payable from the full faith, credit and ad valorem taxing power of the district, for the acquisition and improvement of property needed for fire public safety projects?”
There will be no early voting for the election.
On Election Day — Feb. 10 — the temporary polling location will be the Captiva Civic Center, at 11550 Chapin Lane, Captiva. It will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for voters.
Vote-by-Mail ballots must be received on Feb. 10 before 7 p.m.
To hand deliver a mail ballot before Election Day, drop it off at any Lee County Elections Office branch location on Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
To hand deliver a mail ballot on Feb. 10, they will be accepted at the following locations:
– Lee County Elections Center, at 13180 S Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers
– Main Office at the Melvin Morgan Constitutional Complex, at 2480 Thompson St., Third Floor, Fort Myers
