Committee meeting to feature presentation

Sanibel Planning Department Principal Planner Kim Ruiz will give a presenting on living shorelines at the Vegetation Committee’s meeting on Feb. 5 at 1:30 p.m. in MacKenzie Hall at City Hall, at 800 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. Attendees will learn how nature-based shoreline protection can help preserve the island for generations to come. The Sanibel Code was recently amended to include standards for creating living shorelines. Ruiz will provide an overview of what constitutes a living shoreline and how the nature-based shoreline stabilization tool may be applied.
