COTI contributes to Protect Captiva
The Committee of the Islands (COTI) presented the Captiva Civic Association (CCA) with a donation to support the Protect Captiva legal fund. It was presented to CCA President Lisa Riordan at COTI’s meeting in December, where Riordan also gave an update on the initiative’s efforts. The COTI reported that Protect Captiva is an appropriate recipient for its support as COTI emerged in 1975 from an effort to protect Sanibel from overdevelopment by Lee County. The COTI urged its members and others in the Captiva and Sanibel communities to educate themselves about the actions and issues and to support the ongoing legal challenges.
