The Captiva Memorial Library, which is part of the Lee County Library System, is offering the following free programming:

CHILDREN PROGRAMS

– Nov. 17: Pumpkin Pie Craft

(during operating hours)

Pumpkin pie is the epitome of fall. Youths can make their own paper plate pumpkin pie. The craft will be a fun way to remind them of the Thanksgiving feast to come.

The library is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

ADULT PROGRAMS

– Nov. 13: Online Author Event with Amanda Peters from 7 to 8 p.m.

Join an online conversation with acclaimed author Amanda Peters as she discusses her bestselling debut novel, “The Berry Pickers,” along with her short story collection, “Waiting for the Long Night Moon.” She is a mixed-race woman of Mi’kmaq and European ancestry. “The Berry Pickers” was a finalist for the Atwood Gibson Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize in Canada and won the Barnes and Noble Discover Prize and Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction in the United States. The event is part of the Online Author Events Series. Registration is required.

– Nov. 18: Online Author Event with Charles Duhigg from 2 to 3 p.m.

Charles Duhigg, author of the bestselling books, “The Power of Habit” and “Smarter Faster Better,” will present the ultimate guide on how to communicate and connect with anyone at work, home and in life in his latest work, “Supercommunicators: How to Unlock the Secret Language of Connection.” He is a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist and author. A graduate of Harvard Business School and Yale University, Duhigg is a winner of the National Academies of Sciences, National Journalism and George Polk awards. He writes for The New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine. The event is part of the Online Author Events Series. Registration is required.
