UPDATE: Road closure in Dunes subdivision, city reports
UPDATE: The city of Sanibel reported that the road closure has been extended. The area will be closed through the end of Sept. 17, with the road expected to reopen sometime in the late afternoon or evening.

ORIGINAL (Sept. 15, 2025):
The city of Sanibel reported that the area of Sand Castle Road between addresses 958 and 962 Sand Castle will be closed from today, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m. through end of day Sept. 16.
There is a utility issue that will require the road closure until the repair is completed. The road is expected to reopen sometime in the late afternoon or evening on Sept. 16.
Users of Sand Castle Road should plan for alternative travel routes and additional travel time in the area during the road closure. The public is reminded to drive slowly and cautiously through the work area when workers are present.
“We apologize for the inconvenience experienced due to this necessary maintenance work,” the city shared.
