TBE open for holiday weekend
Closed on Sundays and Mondays in the summer, Tarpon Bay Explorers (TBE) announced that it will be open on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 for the Labor Day weekend. “With the upcoming holiday and the first-ever Sanibel Sunrise Sale, we thought we’d be available to locals and visitors all weekend long,” General Manager Adam Sauerland said. Concession for the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, TBE offers tram tours, kayak tours and rentals, bike rentals, paddleboard rentals, hobie fishing kayak rentals, pontoon rentals and fishing charters, along with a nature-themed gift shop. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with rentals stopping at 3 p.m. For a fee, visitors can also launch their own equipment between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.; everything must be off the water by 4:30 p.m. For more information or reservations, visit www.tarponbayexplorers.com or call 239-472-8900.
