Shark spotted swimming the Sanibel shoreline
RAYMOND HOFFMAN/COLE TAYLOR
Raymond Hoffman and Cole Taylor, both of Manhattan, New York, captured video on Jan. 3 of a shark swimming close to the shore near the West Wind Island Resort on Sanibel. Hoffman reported that the couple watched it from about 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and sometimes they would lose sight of the shark as it headed east, but then they would see it again as it came back near the resort. He added that the shark was about 5 feet or 6 feet long and it was a little scary seeing it that close to the shore. Still, they loved all the wildlife on the islands and seeing a shark up-close was one of the highlights of their trip!
