Army Corps to host webinar, session on Everglades restoration

By USACE 2 min read

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Jacksonville District will hold an Integrated Delivery Schedule 101, 68 CERP Components Overview and Listening Session with Stakeholders on Aug. 19 at 9 a.m.

“The purpose of this engagement is provide partners, stakeholders and the public with an opportunity to learn more about the Integrated Delivery Schedule or ‘IDS,’ the 68 components of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, and to host a listening session,” Eva Velez, strategic program manager for the Ecosystem Branch, said. “The IDS reflects the sequencing strategy for planning, design and construction for the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Program. This is a living document that synchs up federal and state program and project priorities to give us a clear path forward.”

The IDS is a forward-looking snapshot of upcoming design and construction schedules and programmatic costs at a “top” line level for the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration (SFER) Program. It includes modified water deliveries to Everglades National Park, critical projects, Kissimmee River Restoration, non-Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) Central and Southern Flood (C&SF), and CERP projects. The largest aquatic ecosystem restoration effort in the nation, spanning more than 18,000 square miles, the CERP is designed to improve the health of more than 2.4 million acres and focuses on the “getting the water right.”

The IDS synchronizes program and project priorities with the state and achieves the CERP restoration objectives at the earliest practicable time, consistent with annual funding updates and the interdependencies between project components.

The session will use the 2020 IDS as a basis for the presentations. Questions and answers will be moderated virtually through the WebEx chat. The agenda will include:

– Opening remarks

– IDS 101 — The Basics

– CERP 68 Components Overview

– Listening Session with Stakeholders
