mbradbury@breezenewspapers.com The Sanibel Community House is kicking off the holiday season with a slew of handmade items and baked goods.

Sanibel Community Association Community Engagement Coordinator Ivy Ankerson said the Holiday Bonanza Arts & Crafts Fair is a way for them to kick off arts and crafts for the season with the two day event.

It will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, from noon to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 15, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside the Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.

Ankerson said they have about 40 vendors who will display a variety of items — from pottery and ceramics, to shell and beach finds, jewelry, handcraft clothing and accessories, handmade baskets, purses and totes, glass and resin artwork, Sanibel décor and gifts, paper art and cards, ornaments, and baked goods.

The vendors she said are from Southwest Florida, many of which live on the islands.

“It’s completely free entry,” she said.

Ankerson said the fair creates a lot of foot traffic during the two days.

“We want to thank Melissa Gindling. She volunteers to organize these arts and crafts fair for us. She handles the vendors and selects who is going to be at the show, while also working full-time and being an artist herself,” she said.
