Most people know the story of the Three Wise Men. This fall, St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church invites all women of the community to meet the Three Wise Women. The church will host a free Women’s Retreat, “The Three Wise Women,” on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2304 Periwinkle Way on Sanibel.

The retreat centers on three women from the Gospel of Luke. Mary believed. Elizabeth recognized. Anna waited. Each showed a different kind of wisdom, and all of it came from the same source: a heart attuned to God’s.

The three could hardly have been more different. Mary was young, still living at home and engaged to a carpenter. Elizabeth was married, settled and mature. Anna was an elderly widow. God chose each of them, and the retreat explores how God chooses each of us today, whatever our season of life.

The Rev. Coleen Tully and Sue Van Oss will lead the day of reflection, conversation and fellowship. Lunch is included.

“We often picture wisdom as belonging to one kind of person at one stage of life. Mary, Elizabeth and Anna show us otherwise. Whether you are just starting out, in the thick of life or in your later years, God has chosen you too.” said the Rev. Coleen Tully, Assisting Priest at St. Michael’s.

The retreat is free and open to the public. RSVPs are requested by Monday, Nov. 9, for meal planning. To RSVP, visit saintmichaels-sanibel.org, email parishsecretary@saintmichaels-sanibel.org or call 239-472-2173.
