Become a volunteer docent at the Village

1 min read

The Sanibel Historical Museum & Village seeks enthusiastic volunteers to serve as docents and help bring Sanibel’s rich history to life.

As a volunteer docent, individuals will welcome visitors, share fascinating stories about Sanibel’s past, and help connect people to the historic buildings, families, and traditions that shaped the island.

Volunteering as a docent is a meaningful way to give back to the community while learning more about Sanibel’s unique heritage. Individuals will meet new people, develop new skills, connect with fellow history enthusiasts, and play an important role in preserving and sharing the stories that make Sanibel special.

No prior museum experience is necessary — just a love for Sanibel, an interest in history, and a willingness to learn.

There are upcoming Volunteer Docent Training for new or current docents from 1 to 3p .m. Monday, Nov. 30, and Monday, Dec. 7, at Shore Haven at the Sanibel Historical Museum & Village, 950 Dunlop Rd., Sanibel.

This is a two-part training program. Participants must attend both sessions to receive a Certificate of Completion and become a certified Village docent.
