The American Legion Post 123 Sanibel-Captiva recently contributed $2,500 to the Collier-Lee Honor Flights (CLHF).
Accepting the donation were Dr, Stephen Wener and Steve Romaine volunteers for CLHF.
Funds were generated by the Sons of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, and an event day called “the Red Neck Olympics,” which included a barbecue, music, games, raffle and poppy sales.
CLHF sends qualifying veterans, at no charge, to Washington D.C. to visit the national memorials built in their honor. The next flight of more than 80 veterans and their guardians is Saturday Oct. 10. The Welcome Home Veterans Parade is open to the public at SWFL International Airport (RSW) Gate 2 at approx 8:30 p.m.
