Island merchant honored with tennis award
Lily & Co. Jewelers in Sanibel has received a beautiful and signed “International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum” plaque from tennis coach/legend Nick Bollettieri. The popular shop hosted a tennis benefit in November for the FISH of Sanibel nonprofit. Proceeds from event donations, fees and a raffle helped FISH in providing food and services to island families, workers, seniors and children. The Nov. 1 event at the Beachview Tennis Club featured Mr. Bolletieri, the founder of a Bradenton academy that has trained tennis legends like Andre Agassi and Maria Sharapova. Forty amateur players joined in the one-day clinic. Lily co-owner Dan Schuyler trained at the IMG Academy and befriended Bolletieri. The plaque will be on display at the shop on Tarpon Bay.
