White B Tennis Team wins their division
The Dunes Golf and Tennis Club’s Men’s White B Tennis Team won the Men’s 50 Plus Tennis League of Lee County White B flight championship.
Led by team captain Phil Howard, the team amassed a total of 41 points out of a possible 60 in a six-team division. The second place team had 38 points. Each match consisted of 4 matches with each win counting one point toward the team total.
“We had a great year. Traditionally, the winning team in the division moves up to the next level so we are looking forward to the competition at a higher level next year,” said Howard.
The team’s winning season was capped off by a victory dinner celebration at the Dunes on Sunday, March 23. Each member of the team received a trophy and the league will present a plaque to Howard at the Captain’s Meeting in April to memorialize the win.
Team members include Don Athey, John Bralove, Andy Berman, Manfred Dicks, Howard Dwyer, John Gersack, Fred Gobel, Phil Howard, Cliff Leach, Jerry Miller, Clint Parsons, Jimmy Fantozzi, Tom Settanni, Ray Vazquez, and Steve Wassman.
