Summer Dunes Classic returns this weekend
Pavel & Blackwood Tennis Academy at The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club on Sanibel will host the second annual Summer Dunes Classic, a USTA-sanctioned tennis tournament, this weekend, June 10-12.
The Summer Dunes Classic is open to USTA adult members 18 and over and will be played on Har-Tru courts. A first-round consolation match is in effect, thus guaranteeing each player at least two matches.
The entry fee for men’s and women’s singles is $38.13. Categories include: Open, 35, 45, 55 and 65 and over; and the entry fee for men’s and women’s doubles is $28 per person. Categories: Open, 35, 45, 55, and 65 and over. Awards will be presented to all main draw finalists.
The Dunes’ head tennis pro and tournament director Toni Halski anticipates an impressive turnout again this year, especially given the timing being the weekend after the 2011 French Open Finals.
“After spending two weeks watching their favorite French Open tennis professionals battle it out pre-Wimbledon, players will be ready to compete in The Summer Dunes Classic Tennis Tournament,” said Halski.
