Come to Captiva, hook up with a big fish!
Captiva resident Mike Mullins submitted the following information, as well as the accompanying photograph, detailing the results of a recent fishing excursion he took part in.
“In case there were any doubts about reasons for coming to the pristine waters of Captiva and Sanibel Islands, in Lee County, Florida, try a little something that has long been on my bucket list: tarpon fishing (catch-and-release, of course)!”
Mullins noted that the fishing trip took place June 17.
“Many anglers fly here from all over the world to catch a tarpon… many of us locals procrastinate because it is right at our door step,” he wrote, noting that it took him more than a decade to try his hand at it. “Once you finally make the effort, WOW! And you don’t even have to catch a fish to get the thrill.”
