Fresh Legion Crew, Ball Busters remain atop Pool League standings

2 min read

Both of the Sanibel 8-Ball Pool League’s top teams racked up 11-5 victories over their opponents to move into commanding leads in their race for top money with only seven weeks of League play remaining.

Bunt’s Ball Busters beat third place Sanibel Café with all of the Ball Buster players scoring wins. Captain Bob Buntrock got four, Dave Doane won three, Terry Ricotta contributed two, and Ken Rasi and Kip Johnson won one each.

Doane took over the League’s “kick shot artist” title when he triumphed in his third game with a miracle kick to make the eight ball for his final win over Jack Dalton.

Fresh Legion Crew kept pace with the Ball Busters by smashing the cellar dwelling One Ball Wonders 11-5. All of the Crew’s shooters also scored points in the win. Captain Tom Hensel and Doc Lubinski posted three each.

“Snowbird” Carmen Senese, who just arrived from Texas to stay at Periwinkle Park until Easter, won two, and Gator Gates, Doug Fresh and Joe Stahl picked up one each.

Spectators are welcome at American Legion Post 123 to watch some serious pocket billiard play. Matches begin at 6 p.m. on Monday nights. Come out to cheer on your favorite shooter.
