Citations, warnings issued to boaters over holiday weekend
Eight citations and 40 warnings were issued by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit over the holiday weekend.
The marine unit also wrapped up its three-day education and enforcement effort with more than 50 safety inspections.
The citations and warnings were issued to operators of everything from personal watercraft to a wide array of boats, officials said.
The areas targeted over the Fourth of July weekend included:
San Carlos Bay / Sanibel Causeway Islands
Fort Myers Beach
Estero Bay
Bonita Beach
Imperial River
Pine Island Sound
Franklin Locks
Caloosahatchee River Bridges
Other agencies participating over the weekend included participating over the weekend included the United States Coast Guard, Sanibel, Cape Coral and Fort Myers Police Departments, as well as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

· Fort Myers Beach
· Estero Bay
· Bonita Beach
· Imperial River
· Pine Island Sound
Other agencies participating over the weekend included participating over the weekend included the United States Coast Guard, Sanibel, Cape Coral and Fort Myers Police Departments, as well as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
