Captiva Cruises offers new hands-on Family Sailing and Ecology Cruise
Join Captiva Cruises aboard their 24 passenger 40′ Sailing Catamaran as they travel to Fosters Bay on North Captiva, where they’ll anchor in shallow water and explore this dynamic island.
Using dip nets and a seine net, participants will get an up close look at some of the inhabitants of the Back Bay Estuary and discover why the water surrounding Sanibel and Captiva is such a vital habitat. On the way back to the boat, there will be some time available for shelling and additional exploring.
Richard Finkel will be your educator/guide on this excursion. For the past 10 years Richard has worked as an Environmental Educator with the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, conducting a variety of extensive educational programs for school groups and adults. Finkel has also lived in Maine, where he was a Park Ranger at Acadia National Park.
Bring your sense of wonder, exploration and adventure for this hands on shoreline discovery and sailing program. Hard-soled water shoes or sneakers are needed for wading in shallow water. Bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and cameras are also a must for this adventure.
