Rarely is there a dull moment at the Sanibel Recreation Center. And with school letting out for the summer this week, the staff at the Rec Center will be ready for the long summer season with a busy lineup of activities, events, field trips and athletic programs.

According to Dave DeFonzo, the Recreation Program Coordinator, the city’s Summer Day Camp will focus on a range of new and exciting “Fun & Fit” activities while including some “classic favorites.”

“Our camp is ‘all inclusive’ and there are no additional fees for field trip admissions or scheduled athletic programs,” DeFonzo explained.

Some of the programs and activities planned for the Summer Day Camp include:

Tennis

Clay Art

Karate

The program is available in one week sessions throughout the 10-week summer. Sessions begin on June 15 and end on Aug. 21. Summer Day Camp hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Extended Care is also available for working parents from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for only $6 per week per child for members and $7.50 for non-members. Day campers should bring their own healthy lunch and snack. Youth entering first through eighth grades are welcome.
