Bring your non-perishable food items, collect $5 discount to see the Firecats
Are you a Florida Firecats fan? Would you like to save $5 on your admission price for the Saturday, May 16 game against the Spokane Shock? You can by simply bringing a non-perishable food item to this weekend’s arenafootball2 game at Germain Arena in Estero. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Florida Firekittens and their mascot, Blaze, will be at the Germain Arena doors to accept your contribution and provide the discount. The food collected will be donated to the Harry Chapin Food Bank, which will in turn distribute it to their non-profit participating agencies.
Seat reservations for the game may be made by calling 239-390-CATS (2287) or by visiting the team online at www.FloridaFirecats.com.
The Harry Chapin Food Bank has seen a tremendous request for food from its participating agencies during the past two years. More and more families are in need of assistance and with school ending early next month, many students who rely on school lunch programs will need food during the summer. Local agencies such as the Salvation Army, Soup Kitchen and churches will rely on the food bank to provide additional resources, such as canned good collected at the Firecats game.
The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to needy people through a network of over 150 local nonprofit agencies that serve 20,000 people monthly. The Harry Chapin Food Bank distributes more than 4.25 million pounds of food and other grocery products, valued at more than $7 million, per year.
