The Dunes to host Gulf Coast Men’s Interclub competition
On Wednesday, March 18, The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club will host the monthly Gulf Coast Men’s Interclub (GCMI) golf competition. This is an eight team tournament among member clubs.
Each club will send a team consisting of 12 amateur gentlemen golfers plus one professional. Lunch and awards follow the competition. The Dunes Golf Professional Sean Balliet was the driving force behind formation of this league a year ago.
The GCMI tournaments are monthly competitive golf matches between the eight participating clubs, which include:
The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club
Gateway Golf & Country Club
Gulf Harbour Golf & Country Club
Kelly Greens Golf & Country Club
Legends Golf & Country Club
Lexington Country Club
Magnolia Landing Country Club
Olde Hickory Golf & Country Club.
With three matches remaining in the season, The Dunes is in second place behind Gateway. They vow to finish the season strong and bring home the league championship trophy in May.
GCMI Vice President and Dunes team member Jack Roberts explained that the objective of the Interclub league is to promote friendly competitive golf, camaraderie among the clubs, and an opportunity for members to play a variety of courses.
The Interclub season begins in October and ends in May, with each club hosting a single tournament.
