2 min read

The Sanibel-Captiva Optimist Club will hold their Second Annual Wave of Hope Beach Walk on Saturday, March 21 on Sanibel’s Bowman’s Beach.

The 2K to 10K charity walk will benefit “Barbara’s Friends” – The Childrens’ Hospital Cancer Fund from the Lee Memorial Health System Foundation.

Like last year’s very successful – and fun – walk, prizes and a raffle will be offered to participants and contributers. Local entertainers Danny Morgan and Pittsburgh Mike will be making live music at the Start/Finish line. The first 150 registrants will receive a free event T-shirt and participants will be provided with free parking at Bowman’s Beach that day.

In addition to our local participants, vacationers and visitors are most welcome. Last year, participants from all over the country were there. Sign up to walk or just contribute to this wonderful cause to help kids with cancer.

The pre-registration fee is $25, Walk day registration is $30 and kids under 10 are free. Information, pre-registration and pledge forms are available on the San-Cap Optimist Club’s Web site; pre-registration and pledge forms may also be picked up locally at:

Bailey’s General Store (located on Periwinkle Way and Tarpon Bay Road)

Billy’s Bike Shop (1509 Periwinkle Way)

Sanibel Caf (on Periwinkle Way in the Tahitian Gardens Center)

Sanibel Captiva Community Bank (at either 1037 Periwinkle Way or 2475 Library Way on Sanibel or at 15975 McGregor Blvd. in Fort Myers)
