Everblades holding first ever ‘Pink in the Rink’ event
Last week, the Florida Everblades proudly announced they will be hosting their inaugural “Pink in the Rink” night to benefit breast cancer research when they host the Mississippi Sea Wolves on Friday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m.
The Everblades will be wearing special “Pink in the Rink” themed jerseys that will be auctioned off live following the game, with the proceeds raised being split between the Cancer Alliance of Naples, Cape Coral Relay for Life and the Deb Kelsey Foundation.
In addition to the special jerseys worn by the players, Everblades long-time forward Ernie Hartlieb will be donating his hair to Locks of Love, which provides donated hair to financially disadvantaged children who are battling cancer in the United States and Canada under the age of 18. Hartlieb will have his hair cut by his mother, Randa, who owns a hair salon in Michigan.
The Everblades are also extending an invitation to fans who are interested in donating their hair to participate after the game as well. Fans who are interested must make sure their hair meets the specific guildlines set by Locks of Love. To see a list of the guidelines, visit www.locksoflove.org.
“The ‘Pink in the Rink’ campaign has become a national event with hockey teams from all leagues supporting the fight against cancer and we’re extremely proud to be joining the crusade,” said Everblades President Craig Brush. “We ask that Southwest Floridians joins us on March 6 in wearing pink to the game and supporting this very worthy cause!”
