Twins open tryout on June 9

1 min read

An annual tradition since their inception in 1961, the Minnesota Twins are conducting an open tryout camp for aspiring ballplayers at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers on Saturday, June 9.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. in front of the stadium ticket office.

Tryouts are expected to last the entire day. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lunches.

The tryout is open to anyone eligible to sign a professional contract, but players must be high school graduates not previously drafted. They also may not fall under the restriction of major league baseball’s college agreement.

Participants should bring their own gloves and shoes. The Twins will provide bats and balls.

Three players signed following open tryouts have made it to the Major Leagues – pitchers Charley Walters (1966) and Gary Serum (1975) and shortstop Jerry Terrell (1968).
