To the editor:

Why aren't the most powerful and widely viewed Southwest Florida news outlets covering the politics that are preventing the most effective solutions south of Lake Okeechobee from being passed, accelerated and implemented? The Miami Herald and Sun Sentinel are clearly on board with Sen Negron and Bradley's SB 10, why not our island newspapers?

Where is the outrage against our area legislative leaders who say high-minded things, but then act not for local constituents, but rather for the sugar industry, which funds their PACs? And against the bought and paid for SFWMD. Most egregious is the governor, who hails from our area, but who has clearly sold out to the highest bidder.

At a minimum there should be reporting on funding sources for each state representative, senator and the governor with a comparison of their votes and other actions on important water issues.
