Dr. Riffat "Riff" Farid Morgan MD, age 83 died Tuesday, January 31st 2017 The funeral will be held at Memorial Gardens in Fort Myers, Florida on Thursday February 9, 2017 at 11:00am. V isitation will be on February 8, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Dr. Riffat "Riff" Farid Morgan was born April 23, 1933 in Assuit, Egypt son of Dr. Farid Morgan and Nabiha Farg (maiden) Morgan.
Dr. Riffat Morgan received his medical degree at University of Enshamas in Cairo. He completed his internship in anesthesiology and critical care residency in United States. He took a fellowship in Manitoba where he met his wife and life-long partner Dr. Margaret Forke-Morgan. In 1966, they moved to North Dakota and joined St. Alexius Hospital where they were recruited to create and direct an anesthesiology department. Drs. Riffat And Margaret Morgan, with the help of the Benedictine Sisters and St. Alexius hospital, achieved medical milestones with the first cardiopulmonary clinic, intensive care unit, and neonatal unit in North Dakota. Morgan & Associates established the Heart & Lung Clinic in Bismarck, creating cardiac centers and satellite pulmonary clinics for rural North Dakota. Dr. Riffat Morgan was instrumental in the establishment of the pain care clinic and emergency air care transport in St. Alexius hospital.
They were committed to future education and medical research. Dr. Riffat Morgan supported anesthesia, critical care, cardiac, respiratory and other health science students' education. Scholarships continue at University of Mary.
Dr. Riffat Morgan and his wife Margaret retired in 1992 and lived in Sanibel, Fla. Dr. Riffat and Margaret Morgan stayed involved in the community board of Southwest Florida Symphony, Sanibel Harbor and Dunes.
Dr. Riffat Morgan is survived by his Daughter Elaine and son in law Larry Fredrickson, Son John and daughter in law Kathy Morgan. He is also survived by three loving grandchildren- Alexander and his wife Katie, Andrew and Lucy and many nephews and nieces. He is pre-deceased by his wife, parents, two brothers, Shawkey Farid Morgan, Helmi Farid Morgan and sister Elean Farid Morgan.
