Traffic still needs to be addressed
To the editor:
We’ve heard from a great many Sanibelians supporting our letter published in the Island Reporter on March 20 requesting the Sanibel City Council to explore solutions to the in-season traffic problem that negatively affects the quality of life of those of us who live here.
Unfortunately, there has not yet been any word from City Hall. The Sanibel Bound app and the video in which Mayor Kevin Ruane warns tourists about heavy traffic are helpful, but do not move toward solving the problem.
Our suggestions to the council included the establishing of a committee of Sanibel residents who are retired city planners and transportation and traffic experts to explore solutions. We trust that the city council will take action now and not subject us to another horrendous traffic season.
