Rep. John Scott will clean up our water

2 min read

To the editor:

In November, when Democrat John Scott beats incumbent Matt Caldwell for his seat in the Florida State Legislature, Scott will be ousting the man who has done more damage to our Florida estuaries than any other sitting legislator. This has been possible because Caldwell has used his powerful position to receive donations of thousands of dollars from Big Sugar, Big Agriculture, and other wealthy corporations to protect their right to continue polluting. In addition, these corporations have made Caldwell their “bag man” for similar donations to any and all legislators who vote with him against legislation to clean up Lake O.

So how can Scott, a Democrat, hope to defeat a powerful, incumbent Republican? Because they are running in District 79, which has the smallest margin of Republicans over Democrats of any Lee County precinct. The race is statistically close and although those of us who do not live in District 79 cannot vote; we can contribute. Donations, both large and small, sent to votejohnscott.com will insure that his dedicated team can reach every household in District 79 to explain how much is at stake in November.

If you, like me, are disgusted with Lee County’s filthy water, please click onto John’s website and find out more about this hardworking, lifelong Floridian. Our future is in his hands and every one of us must join to help him fight against the big polluters.
