Rewriting history
To the editor:
The recent letter to the editor entitled “Vote for water quality” submitted by Jill Dillon has two significant errors. Both are used as her premise that Republicans are at the heart of our water quality problems.
First, Charlie Crist is labeled as a Democratic governor who worked valiantly against big sugar. While it may be that he worked valiantly to this end, he was a Republican governor, not a Democrat.
Second, she states that Charlie Crist’s environmental efforts ended with the election of Jeb Bush as Governor. Jeb Bush was our governor preceding Charlie Crist so the argument used in the letter is flatly wrong.
I have lived here for 32 years and I also want our water clean and healthy. However, it is disturbing to see someone attempt to rewrite history for the purpose of moving their ideology forward.
