Islander endorses flight surgeon for hospital board post

Lee County needs Dr. Fred Schaerf on the Lee Memorial Hospital Board, filling the District 2 position!
Dr. Schaerf is a veteran, a US Army flight surgeon, and an expert in medical management, as well as an expert in diseases affecting our Lee County young and elderly patients. He has the exact combination of experience and expertise needed on our Lee Memorial Hospital Board, to get and keep our local patients healthy, and treated close to home.
I was asked by a friend who did not know Dr. Schaerf why the need for a physician on the Board? Because I know Dr. Schaerf, the answer was very easy.
I replied that in order to treat any patient, the necessary space, medical talent, hospital equipment, and support expertise are needed, and must be delivered and be on hand. Personnel must also be identified, trained, and made available, and compliance with federal, state and local regulations must be instituted.
Before this all happens, and perhaps years before any patient even comes into the hospital, the LMH Board must have researched, authorized, and prepared for implementation of the new procedure. The members of the Board need to have the expertise to make the correct fiscal decisions during the discussions, or additional years of delay and consequent pain may result.
Dr. Fred Schaerf, a physician, and medical management expert, is the most capable person I know to expedite the process, and make the proper, medical and technical decisions which will best suit the needs of the men and women of all ages who urgently need medical attention here in SWFL.
Less qualified, non-medical and non-management persons are severely hindered to swiftly and correctly make the necessary decisions, even though they may strenuously, and sincerely, attempt to try to understand the medical complexities.
Dr. Schaerf is an excellently qualified non-partisan candidate. Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Liberals, and Tea Party supporters all feel comfortable with his impartiality and expertise, and are joining with community members of all ages, colors, and creeds, from all areas of Lee County, to elect Dr. Fred Schaerf for the LMH Board, District 2.
I ask you, on behalf of your family, friends and neighbors, to join with these citizens and vote for and elect Dr. Fred Schaerf to the LMH Board District 2, on Nov. 4, 2014. You will be proud of your decision. God bless you and God bless America.
