Bling Bash a big success
To the editor:
The Second Annual Bling Bash was both a successful and fun afternoon.
Volunteers from across Lee County attended and we want to especially thank members of the Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva, who came out to set up, sell, and clean up, as well as students who volunteered. Cip’s Place waiters served delicious canaps, wine, water, and iced tea, and the Eileen Fisher staff jumped in and helped with the displays. Most of our previously loved jewelry now has happy, new owners. We had one family of three generations shopping happily.
A large audience witnessed the presentation of the 2014 Human Trafficking Awareness Partner Award to Yaro Garcia, head clinician at ACT. Jennifer Benton, executive director of ACT, attended and was recognized for ACT’s continuing support of human trafficking victims and building human trafficking awareness in the region.
We want to thank the 60 generous donors of live and silent auction items, including Mark Loren Designs, Bradley Jewelers, Lindy Holt, Gulf Breeze Cottages, and many others. This year we had a diverse selection of items including unique pieces of jewelry from Mark Loren and Lindy Holt; a vintage painted desk from Vintage Designs and valuable gift certificates from Bradley Jewelers, Estero Point Resorts, and Gulf Breeze Cottages. Jean Baer was amazing as the auctioneer.
The money earned at this event will be used to fund our prevention programs for youth. This summer we will be conducting ARTREACH programs at Our Mother’s Home, Heights Center, and Boys and Girls Clubs. Volunteers are always welcome.
