Prison privatization a big mistake
To the editor,
Politicians in Tallahassee just chose to cut jobs, gut our community’s economy and put our security at risk. This is what will happen if the plan to privatize prisons in this state is put into place. I am deeply disappointed in our representatives in Tallahassee for not standing up for us.
As a Probation/Parole Officer in Lee County, I stand with my fellow public safety officers. They see first-hand what it takes to keep the state’s most violent felons behind bars and to keep our communities safe. This is not a job to put in the hands of private companies who will make dangerous cuts in order to reap big profits.
I am also a voter in this district and I know I’m not the only one who thinks that this privatization plan is a big mistake.
