Intelligent and personable

To the editor,

My wife and I are very grateful to be able to vote for Dr. David Berger for City Council. Perhaps to say that “we feel lucky” better expresses our attitudes. How often are we voters given the opportunity to commit our unique and treasured island home to a candidate of such manifold and manifest qualifications.

For years a highly trained cancer surgeon, he not only ran a busy practice but also studied for and won a MBA degree. He is fluent in business, but (and this is so important) does not run a business on Sanibel. He does, however, donate two days a week of professional work at the VA hospital. Having served on the Planning Commission, he is experienced in Sanibel government.

We know him well. He is a friend. We find him intelligent, personable, honest, hard working, and balanced and probing in his judgement. He has a sense of humor and can laugh at himself.

Luck is a fleeting thing. Sanibel, do not pass up this priceless and transient offering of this extraordinary human being and candidate for public office. Vote for David Berger.
