It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Tim Murty, who left this world peacefully on November 13, 2025. Though his absence is felt profoundly, his steadiness, kindness, quiet purpose, and quick wit remain vivid in the memories of all who knew him.

Born on January 13, 1941, in Akron Ohio to William and Mary Murty, Tim grew up in a home filled with books, lively debate, and curiosity. He attended St. Sebastian Grade School and Archbishop Hoban High School, where he formed the integrity and discipline that would guide him throughout his life.

Exceptionally bright, Tim graduated in the top three of his law school class from the University of Akron and built a respected legal career with Murty, Burdon & Pierce. Known for his sharp mind and genuine fairness, he believed deeply in doing what was right. Later, he fulfilled a long-held dream by opening his own practice on Sanibel Island, becoming a trusted voice in coastal real estate law and proving that sunshine and legal briefs could indeed coexist.

Tim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Murty; by his former wife, Carol Murty, mother of his three children, Kristine, Lisa, and Brian; and by his sisters Ann, Mary Alice, Susan, and Linda. He was preceded in death by sisters Jeanne and Patricia. He is also survived by his grandson, Tyler Lecky, and great-granddaughter, Lily Lecky.

Tim’s life is remembered with gratitude and celebration. He brought humor to difficult days, offered quiet wisdom when it was most needed, and lived with integrity that inspired those around him. His warmth, principles, and well-timed one-liners will continue to echo in the lives he touched. Though he is deeply missed, his legacy endures in the countless ways he lifted others, shaped moments with kindness, and left the world brighter than he found it.

A Celebration of Life for Tim Murty is being planned for the Spring of 2025 which will be held on Sanibel Island, FL. Further information will be updated here: https://everloved.com/life-of/timothy-murty/
