Paul D. Duval, 85, passed away peacefully in Baltimore, Maryland on September 14, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Born in South Hadley, Massachusetts to Donat and Evalina Duval, Paul had a brother, Andre N. Duval, and a sister, Eva M. Duval, both of whom predeceased him. Paul attended South Hadley High School and received undergraduate and graduate degrees in science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. After serving in the Air Force in the Korean War, Paul received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Georgetown University. Paul practiced general dentistry in South Hadley for 30 years, where he raised his family.

Paul and his wife, Marilyn, retired to Sanibel Island, Florida in 1997. A self-taught naturalist, Paul was active in the Sanibel community with the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, the J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, the Sanibel Rotary Club, and the Sanibel Senior Center. Marilyn predeceased him in 2004.

Paul is survived by his children, Andree Duval of Baltimore, MD, Denise Duval and her husband Tom Dame of Baltimore, MD, Julie Westervelt and her husband Bill of Peru, MA, and Paul J. Duval of Hatfield, MA. He also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren, Emily, Avery, Ingrid and Matthew.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Paul’s life on October 3rd at 11:30am at a funeral mass at St. Isabel Catholic Church at 3559 Sanibel Captiva Road, Sanibel, Florida.
