Saralee Fisher Howell
On March 8, 2014, Saralee Fisher Howell died. She was born on Dec. 10, 1930 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband Capt. Jack Howell (Frontier Airlines), and her parents Ruth Cleverdon Fisher and Earl E. Fisher.
Saralee graduated from Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University) in 1953 where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Saralee began her flying career in 1960. In 1969 she was the 71st woman to become an Airline Transport Pilot. She flew in several women’s air races including the All Women’s Transcontinental Air Race (Power Puff Derby). She was a member of the 99’s, the International Organization of Women Pilots.
In 1980 Saralee resumed her childhood love of horseback riding. For several years she rode English in the The Arapahoe Hunt in Denver, Colorado.
In 1986 she moved to Sanibel, Florida where she lived until her death.
She is survived by many loving friends and a very proud sister, Sharon Fisher Buckingham.
