Alice Robinson Carpender Sharp

Alice (Bobbie) Robinson Carpender Sharp, 95, passed away on Jan. 8, 2014 at her villa at Cypress Cove in Fort Myers, Fla. She is survived by her daughter Tyrrell Carpender Sharp, of the “Stone Cottage,” Laughlintown, Penn., and her cat Cali of Cypress Cove.

Bobbie and her late husband Tom moved to Sanibel in 1980. At the time of his death in 2003 they had been married 62 years. Bobbie and Cali moved to Cypress Cove in 2004. While living on Sanibel, Bobbie wrote a weekly cooking column for The Islander Newspaper.

She was a graduate of the Barnes Foundation School of Horticulture in Merion, Penn., and also studied at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Penn. While residing in the Philadelphia area she helped start the sales rental gallery at The Museum of Fine Arts.

Bobbie was an ardent traveler going to such countries as Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Bolivia, and others. Her interest and hobbies were vast: travel, books, theater, gardening, museums, entertaining, and horses. The latter she gave up when she moved to Sanibel.
