Marilyn P. Veillette (Lyn), 76, of Sanibel passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 14 at Health Park in Fort Myers after a year marked by several stays in the hospital. Lyn was born in Meriden May 17, 1935 to Dr. Daniel C. and Grace L. Pease.

Lyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, George Veillette, her brother Daniel C. Pease, Jr. of Old Lyme CT, her children Mark E. of Houston TX, Paul S. of Newtown CT and Lisa L. (Lentz) of Wake Forest NC. Lyn was predeceased by her sisters Nettie and Sally.

She graduated from Meriden High School in 1953 and attended Green Mountain Junior College in Vermont for Art Studies.

Lyn and George were married in 1956 and spent almost 30 years living in the Yalesville section of Wallingford Ct. She enjoyed gardening, painting and worked as a nurses aide at Memorial Hospital in Meriden and as a floral designer. In 1988, Lyn and George, tired of the cold winters moved to beautiful Sanibel Island, after spending four vacations there, enjoying shell collecting and the laid back lifestyle. She loved handwork and was a proficient knitter, crocheter, quilter and sewer. Lyn was a very active member of the Pelican Knitters, a island group of knitters and crocheters who work for charity.

A memorial celebration will be held at a later date on Sanibel.
