Doris Miller
Doris E. Miller of Fort Wayne and Harper Lake, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at North Ridge Village Nursing Home in Albion, Ind. She was 86.
Born in Poneto, Ind., Doris was as a Teacher for 43 years. She taught with Ft. Wayne Community School as well as the Muncie, Anderson and Wabash School Systems. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Syracuse Ind., a Ball State University Alumni and Tri Kappa Sorority. Doris was the recipient of the Ball State Teacher of the year as well as numerous other outstanding awards.
Doris was a part-time resident of Sanibel for more than 20 years.
Surviving are her son, Mike (Joselyn) Drake of Syracuse, Ind.; step-daughters, Kim (Bill) Muhr, Laura (Tom) Reed and Kyle (Mark) Sadowski; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her first husband of 31 years Michael A. Drake; second husband of 24 years Richard L. Miller; parents, Ralph and Pauline Starr; and sister, Martha Ferne Holloway.
