Patrick Kane
Patrick E. Kane, 67, beloved husband and best friend of Carol A. Kane of Weston, Ct. and Sanibel, passed away peacefully in the company of his family in their Weston home on April 27, 2009.
In addition to his wife of 43 years, he is survived by daughter Emily and partner Tim of Chicago, Ill.; three brothers, Anthony (and wife Nancy) of Forestburgh, N.Y.; Richard (and wife Judy) of Nashville, Tenn.; Kieran of Nashville, Tenn.; nieces and nephews Mathew, Timothy, Lucas, Tracy, Lucy, Lily, Thomas, Terrence and grand nephew Eli; dog Peter and countless dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth (Betty) and Thomas Kane.
Born March 30, 1942 in New York City, Pat began a lifetime of wonderful achievements and service to his numerous communities and country. During his youth, Pat was an Order of the Arrow Boy Scout member.
After graduating Iona College in 1963, he served in the Navy during the Vietnam War on the Destroyer Escort USS Parle out of the Great Lakes Naval Station and Newport, R.I.
He was wed to Carol A. Kane on Dec. 10, 1966 in New Rochelle, N.Y. During his career, Pat was a well known and loved member of the N.Y.C. and Chicago advertising communities and was employed by several companies, beginning his career in 1967 with Young & Rubicam in N.Y. and subsequently spending years with General Foods, White Plains, N.Y.; Beatrice Foods, Chicago, Ill.; MediaTech, New York City, N.Y.; and CRN International in Hamden, Ct. He was a member of both the ANA and AAF throughout his career and a role model and mentor to young people and peers alike.
Pat was a part time resident of Sanibel Island since 1987 and member of the Sanibel Bike Club. He was a passionate and extraordinarily gifted competitive triathlete, runner and cyclist. A lifelong musician, he inspired and delighted friends, family and his communities with his guitar and harmonica talent.
Pat will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, whose lives he quietly but significantly touched. His contribution to others’ lives is immeasurable. To have only met him is to understand how incredibly special he was: a gentleman and a gentle man.
