Tickets on sale for annual Bluegrass Jamboree

2 min read

Fans of American roots music, especially of the acoustic stringed variety, can get their fix next month as the Bluegrass Jamboree returns for its fourth year in Cape Coral.

Tickets are now on sale for the event, taking place on the Cape Coral Historical Museum grounds on Jan. 26 from noon to 5 p.m., with gates opening at 11 a.m.

“This year we’re very excited because we’re having Nu-Blu and they’re a nationally known bluegrass band,” said Wendy Schroder, president of the Cape Coral Historical Society and Museum.

Nu-Blu, from Siler City, North Carolina, features a the husband-and-wife duo of Daniel and Carolyn Routh, along with Calder Baker and Justin Harrison.

The band features the banjo, mandolin, fiddle, acoustic guitar and the caramel-coated soprano voice of Mrs. Routh.

Other musical acts include Linda Fazioli’s tribute to Patsy Cline, Blu-Ridg and Swinging Bridge.

Dick Spottswood will serve as the emcee for the event.

The event was envisioned and brought to life by the late Paul Sanborn, Cape Coral’s official historian, who was involved in the bluegrass community in Florida and beyond.

Schroder said the event has grown each year, and is something that residents really seems to enjoy.

“People are coming back each year to see it. And I’m shocked by the amount of people who love bluegrass music, it’s wonderful,” she said.

The event helps preserve the history of Cape Coral, with proceeds going towards operation costs, archiving, building maintenance and more.

The museum also does some community service during the jamboree, as a $3 parking fee will go to the Boy Scouts, along with Trafalgar Middle School students on-site to sell food they’ve prepared.

“We try to give back, too,” said Schroder.

Tickets are $15 in advance, and $20 at the door.

V.I.P. tickets are also available while they last, $40 in advance and $50 at the door.

Included is tent seating, food from Curries Smokin-Hot BBQ, as well as beverages, including wine and beer.

“This is a great way to support the history of Cape Coral, but mostly, it’s just an enjoyable family day,” said Schroder. “It’s laid back, listening to some good music.”
