CAN IT! Campaign food drive under way

3 min read

The eighth annual CAN IT! Campaign food drive kicked off Monday to help feed those in need this Thanksgiving holiday.

The food drive began when Pushing the Envelop Marketing and Public Relations Firm wanted to give back to the community around Thanksgiving. They thought it was most important to feed the homeless, as well as others who may otherwise go hungry, Hannah Anderson said

“It started with that goal in mind and the need to give back to the community,” Anderson said.

Over the years they have had great success with the CAN IT! Campaign. They have increased their goal each year and and beat the number set, she added.

This year the goal is to collect 2,000 nonperishable food items for Community Cooperative. The wish list includes boxed meal kits such as Hamburger Helper and Tuna Helper; canned tuna, chicken, ham and roast beef; canned fruits and vegetables; canned milk, all kinds of soups; all kinds of beans; macaroni & cheese; pasta and pasta sauce; family-size bags of rice; oatmeal and other hot cereal and grocery bags.

Anderson encourages individuals to shop for anything their family enjoys eating for the CAN IT! Campaign.

The campaign kicked off Monday and runs through Thursday, Nov. 15.
