Motorcyclist dies in early morning accident in North Fort Myers

A motorcycle rider was killed early Saturday morning in a traffic accident near the intersection of U.S. 41 and State Rt. 78 (Pine Island Road), according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The FHP report states that at 1:52 a.m. today, a red 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan was northbound on U.S. 41 north of the intersection of S.R. 78. The

motorcycle collided with a raised concrete curb and overturned. The motorcycle slid approximately 116 feet, coming to an uncontrolled stop with the driver pinned underneath.

The accident investigation continues and the identification of the male driver of the motorcycle is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the report states.
