Red, White & Brew to jumpstart the July 4th holiday this weekend

4 min read

Cape residents looking for a slice of Americana to get a head start on Independence Day can hop aboard a trolley and enjoy one of America’s greatest pastimes: beer.

The South Cape Hospitality & Entertainment Association’s seventh annual Red, White & Brew Trolley Event on Saturday, June 29, will parade patrons to some of the city’s best spots for American-made beer and appetizer samples from 7-11 p.m.

“Red, White & Brew is a patriotic celebration,” said SCHEA Executive Director, Eva Burd. “We are going to celebrate our great country and our great community. South Cape is the heart of Cape Coral and we are excited to show our patriotism with friends, food and beer.”

Trolley-riders will climb aboard the festive transportation to 12 different establishments to taste and sip on some classic dishes and drinks and also some inventive delectables.

Trolley trivia will make for some fun along the way, as guests can answer questions for the eligibility to win prizes.

“People can expect to have fun,” said Burd. “The trolleys are always a lot of fun with singing, trivia and the opportunity to make new friends.”

The participating locations and samples include:

* BackStreets Sports Bar: Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy & Coconut Shrimp w/ sweet chili sauce

* Big Blue Brewing: Red Raspberry, Blueberry, White Grape Wheat Ale & Watermelon, Feta and Cucumber Mint Salad

* Big Storm Brewing Co.: Bay Beer Light Lager & Caramelized Snack Mix

* Cruisers: Michelob Ultra & BBQ Bacon Coleslaw

* Dixie Roadhouse: Dixie Beer & Hawaiian BBQ Meatballs

* Lehne Burger: Budweiser & Cream Cheese Balls

* Monkey Bar: Coors Light & Mini Hot Dogs

* Rack’em Spirits & Times: PBR & Popcorn

* Ralph’s Place: Bud Light & Mini Corn Dogs

* Rockade: Budweiser Freedom Reserve & Cheesy Pretzel Bites

* Rusty’s Raw Bar & Grill : Miller Lite & Firework Shrimp

* Tiki Hut: Yuengling & Mac and Cheese Bites

Tickets for Red, White & Brew are $17 in advance on Eventbrite.com and include beer and appetizer samples, a patriotic gift at check-in, a wristband to board the trolleys, a passport of locations and access to the official photo booth at the lobby of Dolphin Key Resort (another trolley stop).

Day-of tickets are $22 and will be available on Eventbrite.

Make sure to get your passport stamped at every location for a chance to win the grand prize — a patriotic themed gift basket that includes two beach chairs and a cooler full of “fun in the sun” supplies.

Fully stamped passports must be filled out and submitted at the end of the night.

Patrons are encouraged to dress in red, white and blue garb and show their love for the U.S. of A.

“We love to see the creativity our guests put into the costumes they wear to our events,” said Burd. “We expect to see a lot of red, white and blue Saturday night and will be posting some of our favorites to Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. We will also have a photo booth available so everyone can create their own special memories.”

A photo booth memory could score you four tickets to SCHEA’s next trolley event, as a winning photo will be chosen for the prize.

Guests can check-in from 6-7:30 p.m. at Big John Plaza and in front of Dixie Road House.

Late check-in is from 7:30-9 in front of Dixie Road house.

Patrons can legally leave their vehicle overnight in any of the public parking lots.

“South Cape has several taxi services and Uber drivers ready to get everyone home safely,” said Burd.

The event is 21-plus and photo I.D. must be presented at check-in.

Designated driver tickets are $12 and are only available at BackStreets Sports Bar.
