CCPD seeks information on weekend shooting at Yacht Club
The Cape Coral Police Department is seeking information concerning a shooting at the Cape Coral Yacht Club Sunday evening that left one man injured after a bullet fired into his car grazed his abdomen.
The shooting happened after the man and a woman companion were accosted as they walked on the beach around 8:15 p.m. The altercation quickly became physical with one of the attackers later pulling a gun as the couple attempted to leave the complex, a release from the CCPD issued Tuesday states.
“As they were walking on the sidewalk towards the Tiki Bar restaurant in front of the playground area they were approached by two unknown white males,” the release states. “Both males started saying very inappropriate and sexual comments toward the female victim. The males then pushed the two victims and one punched the male victim. The female victim began yelling for help and an unknown family came from the beach area to help separate everyone. The two men walked off and the victims walked back to their car to leave.
“As the victims started to drive out the main entrance/exit of the Yacht Club they saw both men standing in the median of the roadway. One of the males walked up to the driver’s side of the car as they were driving by, pulled a handgun, pointed it at the male victim and fired one round. The male victim did have a graze wound from the bullet to the left side of his abdominal area. “
Anyone with any information about the incident or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact the Cape Coral Police Department at 239-574-3223.
