Water & Wheels Festival set for March 17-19 at Cape Harbour
Cape Harbour is set to host its 11th Water & Wheels Festival next weekend, a three-day weekend of fun that features hundreds of classic cars, boats in and out of the water, vendors for boating accessories and entertainment.
It all begins at noon on Friday, March 17, with the boat show and additional St. Patrick’s Day themed food and beverage specials through Fathoms Restaurant starting at 6 p.m. More than 100 classic cars appear on Sunday, March 19 to complete the festival run through 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Free live entertainment with Stolen Fruit will delight visitors from 6-10 p.m. Friday. Remedy takes the stage for performances all day Saturday with Chris Workman taking over from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday.
“We have the car show on Sunday registered to win 46 prizes in 16 categories,” said Val Zanella, organizer and project development for Fathoms Restaurant and The French Press at Cape Harbour. “The car show judging runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.”
Car categories range from stock restored 1900-1924 up to present day, special interests, muscle cars, Corvettes and Mustangs, two and three-wheel motorcycles, and even race cars.
Boats on display run the gamut of what is seen on Southwest Florida waterways, from fishing kayaks and paddleboards to yachts, some surpassing 50 feet in length. The Michigander Top Fuel Nitro dragster periodically will fire up its power plant.
The U.S. Coast Guard will be onsite sharing boat safety instructions.
