Cape driver cited following accident on state Route 82

A Cape Coral motorist was cited last week in an accident that sent two people to the hospital.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Knute Linzenmeyer, 20, of the Cape, was driving a Ford F-150 east on state Route 82 on Friday and approaching the intersection of Alabama Road. At the same time, a Buick Enclave was moving west on 82 and approaching the Alabama intersection.

At 9:11 p.m., Linzenmeyer tried to turn left onto Alabama, entering the westbound lane of 82.

According to the FHP, the Ford directly entered the path of the Buick, which was being driven by Yvrose Duperard-Absolu, 33, of Lehigh Acres. Duperard-Absolu was unable to avoid Linzenmeyer, and the front of the Buick collided with the front of the Ford.

Linzenmeyer sustained minor injuries and was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.

As of Tuesday, he had been discharged from the hospital.

Duperard-Absolu sustained serious injuries in the crash and was also taken to Lee Memorial.

As of Tuesday, she was listed in good condition at the hospital.

The FHP reported that Linzenmeyer was cited for an improper left turn.
