A Cape Coral motorcyclist was taken to the hospital earlier this week following a crash.

Pedro Tucker, 20, was listed in critical condition on Tuesday at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was transported after the accident at Alico Road and Lee Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At 11:17 p.m. Monday, Tucker was headed west on Alico in the outside lane on a Suzuki GSX. He was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed as he approached a red light at the Lee intersection. At the time, a Mazda Mazda3 was stopped in the southbound lanes of Lee waiting for the green light.

When the light turned green, the Mazda began to travel south into the intersection.

According to the FHP, Tucker ran the red light and the front of the Suzuki collided into the front left side of the Mazda. Tucker was ejected from the motorcycle and both traveled over 350 feet west.

Tucker, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Mazda, Tory Saperstein, 21, of Fort Myers, and a passenger, Andrew Bayer, 22, of Sanibel, were injured in the crash, authorities reported. Both were wearing seat belts at the time.

The accident is not alcohol related, according to the FHP.

The crash remains under investigation.
