Three arrested in Cape homicide

Three men are accused of fatally shooting a Cape Coral resident early Monday morning.

Mariano St. Louis, 23, Ivan Michael Webb II, 23, and Parker David Zapata, 19, were arrested and charged Thursday in the death of Dayvin Kendall Johnson, 39. According to booking records, they are each charged with homicide murder not premeditated during other felony and robbery with firearm.

St. Louis was additionally charged with burglary occupied dwelling unarmed.

Officials reported that the three were detained on Wednesday by Cape police detectives.

As of Thursday evening, they all remained in custody at the Lee County Jail.

St. Louis, a transient, is being held on $550,000 bond, according to records. Webb, of 1105 S.E. 26th Terrace, has a bond of $400,000; Zapata, of 2221 N.E. 15th Lane, is being held on $180,000 bond.

At 1:22 a.m. Monday, Cape police responded to a suspicious circumstances call at 1216 N.E. 23rd Terrace. Officials reported that officers found Johnson dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Johnson’s mother said her son had run into the home stating that he had been shot.

Johnson was pronounced dead at 1:37 a.m.

“Investigators have determined that this was not a random incident and do not believe there is a danger to the general public,” Sgt. Dana Coston, spokesman for the CCPD, said in a statement on Monday.

Following the news of Johnson’s death, District 17 Congressional candidate April Freeman referred to Johnson as a “dear family friend, fellow community organizer and former campaign staff member.”

On Thursday, Freeman released the following statement:

“My family, and the family of Dayvin Johnson are eternally grateful for the hard work and diligence being put forth by the Cape Coral Police Department in bringing the suspected perpetrators responsible for murdering Dayvin to justice. I’m certain our community will rest easier knowing we have such a dedicated force working to keep Cape Coral safe.”

Johnson’s death marks the fifth homicide for the Cape this year.

As of Thursday, the police investigation was ongoing.

St. Louis, Webb and Zapata have court appearances on Sept. 26.
